Po 'o-uli

Habitat: Po'o-uli have been found in the Hanawi and Kuhiwa watersheds. This bird lives in dense jungle in the slopes of Heleakala. Both Hanawi and Kuhiwa are located in Heleakala. The Po'o-uli is very rare and has only been seen a few times in it's natural habitat.
Color Pattern: The Po'o-uli has very distinctive color patterns unlike any other bird pattern in Hawaii. The Po'o-uli has a black face, with a grey top on the birds head. The birds neck has a distinctive white ring around it's neck and has a brownish black body. The birds feet are dark brown and both male and female birds look the same.
Calls: This birds call has a very high pitch "chick" sound. It's calls are very similar to the Maui Parrotbill's calls.
Food: This birds diet is strictly bugs. The bird tends to eat snails, and various types of beetles. The Po'o-uli also eats many insects found in the forest and occasionally eats larvae.
